Green Scissors ‘99 recommendations would slash nearly $51 billion in federal spending that squanders our hard-earned tax dollars and hurts the environment

Mississippi River: River of Subsidy (Released October 23, 1997) -- Recommends cutting 16 specific, wasteful government programs and reforming subsidies for flood control and barge navigation. Federal taxpayers can save $1.5 billion immediately and much more in coming decades.

More Pentagon Follies (Released July 28, 1997)-- While much of the Pentagon's spending is essential, some is pure folly. The $61 billion in frivolous or wasteful Pentagon spending highlighted in this report does not contribute to the national defense but instead offends both troops and taxpayers.
