Hmmm. What do the FY08 Legislative Branch (TCS Analysis of House Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill) and FY08 State and Foreign Operations

(TCS Analysis of House State/Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill) appropriations bills have in common. No earmarks supposedly. Of course that's not true, they both have earmarks and much, much, more.

Leg Branch finds a way to send $340K to John C. Stennis Center in Mississippi, get more Fair Trade Coffee into hill cafeterias and extend the House gym hours. The State/Foreign Ops bill is littered with provisions that make federal agencies an offer they can't refuse. The Committee is impressed by the work of the Feinberg Graduate School of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tel Aviv University and so forth. Hmm, I think the agencies can take hint; Congress does sign their checks after all.

Both bills may come up for a final vote tomorrow.

Look for House Interior, Financial Services and Senate Homeland Security databases to come out tomorrow.
