A bipartisan group of national security experts including Taxpayers for Common Sense today released a report calling for a budget that will serve taxpayers by increasing transparency, accountability and prioritization in national security spending.
In 2010, for the first time, the Secretaries of Defense and State and the Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff expressed support for a unified national security budget (USB). Largely because of concerns over the deficit, policymakers across the political spectrum have begun talking about cutting unnecessary weapons systems and reducing Pentagon waste.
The report released today explains the advantages of a comprehensive approach to national security spending and lists several places to look for savings in our current budget.
