A BRIDGE TOO BIG: An MT source hears the House could vote Wednesday on a Senate-passed bill to get environmental clearance for the Stillwater Bridge between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Minn. Gov. Mark Dayton has set a March 15 deadline before his state pulls out of the huge project. And it sure is huge … U.S. Capitol huge. Taxpayers for Common Sense’s Erich Zimmermann passes along a graphic showing just how big it is: http://bit.ly/xDX3wa “The biggest reason we oppose this bill as it’s written is the mandate the legislation contains that in order for a bridge to be built, it has to be this ‘extradosed’ style bridge, making it far larger and more expensive than the I-35W bridge replacement a few years back to carry a fraction as much traffic,” Zimmermann told MT.
