Steve Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, was the smartersafer.org representative testifying this week before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs on “Reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program.”
Ellis, like other witnesses, talked about the NFIP’s $18.8 billion dollar debt – and the need for the program to “make significant changes to put it on sounder financial footing, not dig a deeper financial hole with loopholes, new insurance lines, or undercutting the program’s ability to charge actuarially sound rates.”
Ellis’s full testimony can be found here; an archived webcast of the full hearing can be seen here.
