Colony Bankcorp, Inc. (Colony) is a holding company. Colony provides, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, a range of products and services throughout 18 Georgia markets. The Company offers commercial, consumer and mortgage banking services. On March 12, 2007, Colony formed Colony Bankcorp Capital Trust II for the purpose of establishing a special purpose entity to issue trust preferred securities. On September 14, 2007, Colony formed Colony Bankcorp Capital Trust III for the purpose of establishing a special purpose entity to issue trust preferred securities. Colony conducts its operations through its banking subsidiaries, including Colony Bank of Fitzgerald, Colony Bank Wilcox, Colony Bank Ashburn, Turner County, Colony Bank of Dodge County, Dodge County, Colony Bank Worth and Broxton State Bank, among others. The company was founded in 1975.
In December the company announced that it would participate in the Treasury Department’s Capital Purchase Program. Under the program Colony received $28 million in exchange for preferred stock.
