Funding for the federal government turns into a pumpkin in a week. Instead of simply passing a “clean” continuing resolution to avoid a shutdown, some lawmakers are demanding more farm subsidies. Taxpayers for Common Sense along with several other fiscal conservative organizations wrote lawmakers pointing out there are still tens of billions of dollars sloshing around the Secretary of Agriculture’s office including $14 billion more announced Friday. The simple truth is that there is plenty of cash and replenishing the coffers is a premature money grab.
