Washington , D.C. The following is a written statement by Jill Lancelot, President of Taxpayers for Common Sense, on the administration axing the roadless rule:

Axing the Roadless Rule bulldozes taxpayers. Now, taxpayers face a future of more corporate welfare to the timber industry and a growing ten billion dollar maintenance backlog for existing forest roads. This at the same the administration is cutting funds to maintain the road infrastructure. The administration’s new policy is a nice gift for the timber industry but takes a chainsaw to fiscal common sense.
