HopFed Bancorp, Inc. operates as the holding company for Heritage Bank that provides commercial banking services in southwestern Kentucky, and northwestern and middle Tennessee. It offers various deposit products, including time deposits, money market accounts, passbook savings accounts, individual retirement accounts, and certificates of deposit. Its loan portfolio comprises one-to-four family residential loans, multifamily residential loans, construction loans, nonresidential loans, and commercial real estate loans, as well as loans secured by deposits, other consumer loans, and commercial loans. The company, through its subsidiary, Fall and Fall Insurance Agency, also sells life and casualty insurance to individual and businesses. As of December 31, 2007, it operated branch offices in Hopkinsville, Murray, Cadiz, Elkton, Fulton, Calvert City, and Benton, Kentucky; and had seven offices in Clarksville, Erin, Pleasant View, Ashland City, and Kingston Springs in the middle Tennessee. The company was founded in 1879 and is based in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

In December HopFed announced that it would participate in the Treasury Department’s Capital Purchase Program. Under the program the company received $18.4 million in exchange for preferred stock.
