Today, Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS) sent a letter to the House Budget and Oversight Committees regarding improper government payments. Improper payments are unfortunately too common. While Congress and agencies have taken steps in the past to eliminate improper payments, and efforts like paymentaccuracy.gov provide some insights into the issue, much more can be done to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively.
TCS’s letter covers improper payments within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, and Internal Revenue Service, in addition to disaster spending and other federal programs.
