The controversial National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), located in a former department store in the congressional district of Rep. Jack Murtha (D-PA), the powerful Chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been widely criticized as being a massive waste of taxpayer money.

US National Drug Intelligence Center logoMany have tried to eliminate the earmark for being wasteful and duplicative. Even the President was unsuccessful in killing it. Just this year, NDIC received $24.5 million in the FY 2009 Defense Appropriations bill.

Well today, Americans get a chance to see what their tax dollars pay off. This morning NDIC released National Drug Threat Assessment 2009. It’s one of the only things they do with the $24.5 million.
