TCS has been tracking the FutureGen project for all of its tortured existence since 2003, and constantly advocating for its funding to be cut. We were glad to hear, therefore, that the Department of Energy (DOE) made the smart move earlier this month to withdraw close to $1 billion from the Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) project in Meredosia, Illinois. In response, TCS, as part of the Green Scissors coalition, sent a letter to DOE Secretary Ernest Moniz applauding the decision and urging the department to withdraw another $650 million awarded to two other CCS projects in the 2009 stimulus.
