The Anchorage Daily News reports today that the state of Alaska will ask for an independent cost estimate of the Knik Arm bridge.  This is another signal from an increasingly skeptical Gov. Sarah Palin that the days may be numbered for this bridge to nowhere.  The well-paid board charged with keeping the bridge project alive insists that the price tag remains at $667 million, there is every indication that the actual cost will exceed $1 billion.
