The current 768 page, 5 inch thick energy legislation is fueled by pork and will do very little to
reduce energy prices or increase domestic energy production. It is a grab bag of subsidies, tax
giveaways and pork for almost every special interest in Washington. There is no rhyme or reason
to this legislation.

The bill continues the time-honored congressional pastime of subsidizing the research and
development needs of the energy industry without demanding much in return. It’s a blitzkrieg of
new federal research programs and a corporate accountant’s dream with billions in major new
tax breaks for big energy.
