This morning the House voted down an amendment that would have stripped the $150 million added to the National Defense Authorization Act for the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC).

Representatives Pearce (R-NM) and Markey (D-MA) offered the amendment to strip the funds clearly intended for USEC. TCS strongly supported the amendment along with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, Friends of the Earth, National Taxpayers Union, Union of Concerned Scientists, Non-proliferation Policy Education Center, and Natural Resources Defense Council.

Taxpayers have already wasted millions of dollars bailing out USEC and it's time to cut our losses. This provision must be removed before the bill is enacted into final law.
