Dear Senator,

We urge you to oppose the amendment by Senators Pete Domenici, Mary Landrieu, and others to divert $1 billion in federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) royalty revenues from the U.S. government to a handful of energy-producing states. This amendment is little more than a grab at the U.S. Treasury that will drive this nation even further into debt. Our organization will include votes on this amendment in our end-of-the-year scorecard.

The Domenici/Landrieu amendment would create a new entitlement to energy-producing states. Louisiana alone would receive 54% of the funds.

This amendment sidesteps the appropriations process and violates the Budget Resolution. We strongly urge you to oppose it.

Sincerely,

Jill Lancelot

President
