Senate Adopts Amendment Supporting Massive Expansion of the DOE Loan Guarantee Program

Late last night the Senate passed an amendment to the Budget Resolution supporting a $50 billion reserve fund for the Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program. The amendment, sponsored by Senator Crapo, passed under unanimous consent along with dozens of other amendments. The Budget Resolution will now have to be reconciled with the House bill, which did not contain a similar provision. The DOE Loan Guarantee program is riddled with problems and this provision should not be included in the final budget resolution.
