July 3, 2025

Steve Ellis, President of Taxpayers for Common Sense, issued the following statement on the final passage of FY2025 budget reconciliation, “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”:

“Lawmakers have forced through their budget-busting legislation, sending the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to President Trump’s desk for his signature. The OBBBA represents a $4 trillion addition to America’s national debt—a financial burden that will fall squarely on the shoulders of taxpayers.

As Americans gather this July 4th weekend to celebrate independence, taxpayers who value fiscal responsibility should press their elected officials about our nation’s spiraling debt crisis and demand meaningful solutions.

In 2000, the national debt was less than $6 trillion. Today it is more than $36 trillion. Enough is enough.”
