Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS) and the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) submitted joint comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), urging the department to end wasteful subsidies for bioenergy and spend taxpayer dollars wisely when implementing Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) energy and biofuels provisions. The comments address the following sections in IRA:
(1) Section 22001 – Additional Funding for Electric Loans for Renewable Energy,
(2) Section 22002 – Rural Energy for America Program (REAP),
(3) Section 22003 – Biofuel Infrastructure and Agriculture Product Market Expansion, and
(4) Section 22004 – USDA Assistance for Rural Electric Cooperatives.
