Taxpayers for Common Sense joined the R Street Institute in sending a letter to the House Committee on Rules regarding efforts to improve the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The groups urged the committee to make in order a number of amendments that would improve the transparency and fiscal responsibility of the NDAA.

One of the identified amendments, #302 Garamendi (D-CA), Deluzio (D-PA), Doggett (D-TX), clarifying cost and pricing data requirements to ensure transparency in the absence of competition, was made in order. It and an additional TCS-supported amendment requiring the Pentagon budget be cut 0.5 percent if it fails to pass an audit, #365 from Biggs (R-AZ), Clyde (R-GA), Crane (R-AZ), Burgess (R-TX), and Miller (R-IL), were ultimately adopted as part of the Manager’s Amendment.
