Dear Fellow Taxpayer,

I wanted you to know you’re getting your money’s worth.

Earlier today I testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on how to eliminate waste and save billions of dollars. I was invited as a Majority (that is, GOP) witness. As evidence of our nonpartisan street cred, I was actually up here two years ago for a similar hearing at the invitation of the Democrats on the Committee.

I was not the only one on the Hill today making government work. My staff organized, and Vice President Steve Ellis moderated, a briefing for House staffers on the renewal fuels policy early this morning. Then immediately booked it over to the Senate to do it again.

This is what we do. We get in front of Congress and give them solutions. And your support makes this all possible.

As an independent, unbiased, nonpartisan voice for common sense reforms, we’re the ones Congress and journalists come to when they need someone to tell it to them straight. Whether it’s that the Farm Bill is full of fake “savings,” the Sandy Supplemental spending is not all going to help recovery, or that there are money savings in the defense budget that won’t make us less safe, we don’t pull punches. And we don’t have an axe to grind.

Staffers on the Hill can complain we’re not seeing their side—which they do. Congressmen can call to convince us we’re wrong—which they’ve tried. And Opinion editors can call us names—yes that’s happened.

But they keep calling us back. Asking our help to find real cuts. Pointing to our work to back up their own statements. And seeking our endorsement for their efforts.

Thank you for helping us do what we do by contributing today.

Sincerely,

Ryan Alexander
President
