Below is a statement by TCS President Ms. Ryan Alexander on the announcement:
“The recent debate over the CR revealed a growing Congressional consensus that this program is unnecessary. Budget experts across the aisle agree that we cannot curtail runaway spending without looking at the Defense Department, which accounts for the biggest part of the discretionary budget. By taking this action today, DOD is attempting to stymie attempts by a few lawmakers to add money for the program back to spending bills as they have for the past several years. These lawmakers are more concerned with jobs in their districts than our national security priorities. This fiscally dangerous era is no time to play politics with such an expensive program.”
