Watchdogs to Defense Secretary Gates: Tell Congress Earmarks Cannot be Tolerated

Government watchdogs yesterday sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates urging him to make it unmistakably clear to Congress that the Department cannot tolerate earmarking funds that are more urgently needed to support our troops in the field.

Taxpayers for Common Sense, Project on Government Oversight, National Taxpayers Union, and Center for Defense Information signed on to the letter that can be read here.
