Today, the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC), R Street Institute, Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS), and U.S. PIRG released a joint set of farm bill reform principles in preparation for the 2023 farm bill. Numerous opportunities exist for taxpayer- and farmer-friendly reforms in the next farm bill. The joint letter to Members of Congress states that the 2023 farm bill must promote resilience, instead of dependence on federal farm subsidies. Recommendations are centered around six main principles, including cost-effective, transparent, sensible, responsive, fair & simplified, particularly within the Commodities, Conservation, and Crop Insurance titles of the farm bill.
